WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Accountant is an exempt position responsible for working on special projects, the maintenance of
management dashboards and reports and evaluating processes and design improvements. The
Accountant also develops budgets, performs account analysis, provides support to finance, payroll and
billing staff, and acts as liaison between funders and finance department.
- Work with the grant accountants to improve reporting and efficiency of billing and program
- performance analysis
- Provide ongoing training and support of finance staff in the use of the ABM Power Plan budgeting
- software
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs
- to actual costs
- Lead the budget process for new grant opportunities and capital grants
- Assist with annual audits documentation requirements
- Explore opportunities to assist program personnel in process improvement using technology
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial
- reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural
- standards
- Learn grant accounting reporting and payroll for fill in for position openings or staff leave of
- absences in the finance department
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Participate in the risk management and quality improvement programs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO or Finance Director

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Associate degree with at least two (2) years of accounting required plus direct experience working in a Non-profit.
- Knowledge of general ledger
- Knowledge of accounting and budget software programs
- Knowledge of financial statements preparation
- Knowledge of cash receipts journal
- Knowledge of reconciling bank statements
- Knowledge of account reconciliation and self-auditing procedures
- Working knowledge of payroll and payroll systems
- Must attend computer training and become familiar with company computer system(s) as required by the job.
- Must have the ability to meet the demands of the day-to-day work requirements.
