Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – Independent Contractor

Location: Holiday, FL

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is an independent contractor who is responsible for the psychiatric oversight of residents (civil and forensic) in the Level II Residential Treatment Facilities (RTFs).

  • Patients may include those who are voluntary and competent, as well as those who have forensic involvement who are incompetent or not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI)
  • Completion of initial and annual psychiatric evaluations.
  • Completion of psychiatric medication management visits every other Monday's only, on-site including holidays, excluding Christmas Day and New Years Day (alternate dates will be scheduled in advance for these two holidays).
  • Visits will include Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS)/Body Mass Index (BMI) tracking and other vitals as required.
  • Available for psychiatric consultation by phone (i.e. verbal orders for changes) as needed, including after hours and holidays.
  • Available to participate in monthly telephone supervision with Medical Director.
  • Work cohesively with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and other members of the treatment team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Completing paper and electronic progress notes and limited-service authorizations as required, review and sign treatment plans as an active member of the treatment team.
  • Order and review lab testing for clients as needed.
  • Provide medication discharge orders/paperwork (i.e. Statement of Self-Preservation, Health Assessment, etc.) and prescriptions to prepare clients for discharge.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • $900 per visit - Schedule requires every other Monday only, Part -Time
  • Onsite location, only

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with an active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.
  • An APRN must be authorized to provide these services in accordance with Chapter 464, F.S., and protocols filed with the Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Previous experience working in a residential setting, highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with the co-occurring disorders and prescribing psychiatric medications, required
  • Must obtain/maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens and must wear PPE as required by the exposure control plan and safety protocols.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment with potential exposure to clients who may be verbally or physically aggressive.

Independent Contractor Requirements:

  • Depending on the scope of work and/or services provided, independent contractors may be required to provide proof of $1,000,000 General Liability Insurance and $3,000,000 Professional Liability Insurance coverage. A waiver may be granted in some instances.
  • Workers' compensation insurance for Independent Contractor and/or its employees as required by Ch. 440, Fla. Statutes.
  • Independent contractors must submit IRS Form W9.
  • Independent contractors must submit to a Level I & II background screening.
