Domestic Violence Therapist

Location: Clearwater, FL

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Domestic Violence Therapist is a non-exempt position responsible for providing direct services and support to clients and case management staff in the Refugee programs.

  • Collaborate with local domestic violence service provider agencies to liaise between organizations.
  • Increase the capacity among network service providers to improve access to culturally competent domestic violence services and greater community awareness of identifying and caring for victims.
  • Assist in developing training that will address cultural competency in providing care to victims with topics on mental health, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and suicide among refugee communities.
  • Provide case consultation to help identify gaps in culturally and linguistically appropriate services for victims of domestic violence at Certified Domestic Violence Centers and other agencies providing support to survivors.
  • Assist in assessing the policies, procedures, and practices of Refugee programs to ensure survivors of domestic violence receive services in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Participate in quarterly collaborative meetings with the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
  • Conduct training on topics including but not limited to how to identify victims of domestic violence among refugee populations and how to create trauma-informed practices within resettlement.
  • Complete continuing education training in Domestic Violence and trauma-informed services.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Master’s degree in clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling or related field.
  • Licensed clinical social worker, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling under Ch. 491, F.S.
  • Experience working with immigrant populations preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in domestic and sexual violence, child welfare and working with immigrants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with people.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual, preferably in Dari, Pashto, Spanish, and other languages spoken by clients.
  • Use of personal vehicle to transport clients as needed. Must have valid drivers' license with current auto insurance coverage.
