Mental Health Technician (Overnight Shift)

Location: Oakland Park, FL

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) (Driving) is a non-exempt position responsible for assisting in the psychosocial rehabilitation of adult mental health clients through group activities, supportive individual contact, direct training and/or assistance in activities of daily living. The position also provides assistance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Program Director with program and facility maintenance activities to ensure safe and quality care to Adult Rehabilitation Treatment and Stabilization (ARTS) clients.

  • Ensure the safety, sanitation and well-being of ARTS clients at all times
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of clients’ whereabouts
  • Report changes in clients' appearance and/or behavior, needed residential supplies and any areas of concern
  • Observe and assist clients at meal and snack times, noting those with dietary restrictions or considerations
  • Transport clients as needed in agency vehicles
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (laundry, room cleaning, and showering) as needed
  • Assist with follow through on treatment goals/objectives as indicated in the client’s treatment plan
  • Complete all required documentation
  • Participate in staff and treatment team meetings
  • Perform housekeeping activities (facility cleaning/sanitation, bed and linen care, light housekeeping functions) as designated by shift LPN or Program Director
  • Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Available Shift:

  • Monday -Thursday 11:00 pm - 7:00 am & Sunday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with chronic mental illness and substance abuse co-occurring populations preferred
  • Proof of certification in CPR, HIV, and First-Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Working knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5)
  • Ability to respond to special clinical circumstances including emergency and crisis situations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Transportation of clients in company vehicles
  • Ability to provide physical assistance to clients
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies, files, medication, etc. up to 25 lbs. when required
  • Must have a valid drivers' license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
